Gut and Psychology Syndrome: Natural Treatment for Autism, Dyspraxia, A.D.D., Dyslexia, A.D.H.D., Depression, Schizophrenia provides the information you need to heal a damaged digestive system. The perfect book for anyone suffering from Autism, Dyslexia, Depression, Dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, Schizophrenia, and any other condition that has a link with gut dysbiosis.
Campbell-McBride does an incredible job explaining how the digestive system works and how it can become damaged by the foods we eat and the environment we are exposed to (and it’s passed on to future generations). She also explains how different illnesses and conditions occur and why, as well as what can be done to help repair the digestive system and improve overall health.
This is a must read book for anyone concerned with their health and how to stay healthy. It’s also an important book for all parents, regardless of the health of their children, especially given the diet that is acceptable in today’s world.
I highly recommend this book if you or your children have food allergies, attention problems, behavioral issues, autism, or depression. I will offer one big caveat. This diet will not cure everything, and it can be taken to extremes that aren’t good. Some view it as a “low carb” diet. It’s not, it’s actually a “specific carbohydrate” diet (SCD) the name given to it by Elaine Gottschall in Food and the Gut Reaction. Eliminating carbs will cause problems. You just need simple carbs, not complex starches and sugars. It fits into the general philosophy of Paleo, Weston Price, etc. but is a temporary restorative diet.
